Love thy immigrant as thy self?

Jesus was full of compassion, mercy and grace for sinners.  He literally died for you.  So why is it difficult for many Christians to have grace for the immigrant?

My Tesitmony.....

This website and it's content was developed by a middle-aged white dude wishing to remain anonymous.  I'm not associated with any organization.  I'm also not a pastor, theologian or politician.  Just a regular guy.  A sinner who was saved by grace, that wants to be like Jesus, see others like Jesus, and have the same compassion He had for others.

Why?

I have many friends that are offspring to immigrants, documented and undocumented.  My heart breaks for the immigrant community and I want those that call themselves Christians to be curious about how Jesus sees them.  I want to challenge others to put the Kingdom first, not your nation.  To love others more than you love your comfort and protection.  Afterall, Jesus died for you.  He chose you over His comfort and protection and was the perfect model of love.

I was blessed to be born in the United States, the greatest nation in the world and at the most benevolent time in history.  I was also blessed to be born into a family with strong Christian values and wonderful parents.  I worked hard, I was smart, and "deserved" the great things I had.  Afterall, I had earned it.  All that changed later in life when I began to struggle with mental illness.  Jesus allowed this thorn in my life and it brought me to my knees.  Over the years He humbled me and reminded me He is in control.  He showed me it was only by His grace I was born in the USA, that I grew up in an environment that taught me to work hard, and that I had any talents at all.  I feel a tremendous responsibility to steward all that He has blessed me with.  My desire is to see people as Jesus did.  To have compassion for others regardless of their ethnicity, nationality, or status in society...just like Jesus.  Finally, to action for those hurting around me.  I have accomplished nothing on my own, to Him all glory is attributed.  I am a work in progress....
